Olivia Caretti, Ph.D

Olivia oversees ORP’s scientific programs and coordinates with staff and partners to implement ORP’s oyster and coastal habitat restoration goals. Olivia works with partners and staff to develop new integrative and collaborative approaches, initiatives, and tools to expand ORP’s scientific capabilities and contribute to creative solutions to address our coastal challenges.

Olivia received her Ph.D. in Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences from North Carolina State University and earned her B.A. from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Her background is in the ecology of changing coastal ecosystems. She has contributed to research on oyster restoration and monitoring, underwater soundscapes, mapping habitat and coastal change, invasive marine species, seagrass restoration, coral reef management, and fish habitat use across the Gulf Coast, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic. Olivia aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and applied conservation needs to effectively restore, conserve, and sustainably manage our coastal resources. She joined ORP in 2021.
