This summer, the Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) is offering a series of interactive environmental education programs – the Oyster Games – to local summer camps. Regardless of your proximity to water, ORP has the staff, gear, supplies and knowledge to bring fun and affordable oyster programs to campers of all ages.
The Oyster Games is part of a series of environmental education classes we provide as an extension of the Next Generation Science Standards, currently implemented in our school systems. Our programs share one key objective – we use oysters to educate children on the Chesapeake Bay, it’s ecosystem and the important role we all play in the Bay’s recovery. ORP provides two trained staff and all the necessary materials.
The Oyster Games are tailored to your camp’s needs, with groups of no more than 30 children per one highly trained counselor. Hands-on activities involving Bay critters and our “Lil Nippers” hand-tonging boat are both fun and educational, and provide campers with memories that will last a lifetime. ORP offers a variety of programs — from oyster dissection and knot tying to Chesapeake Bay trivia and field games.
Rate: $195 per two-hour program
Target age of campers: 7 – 13
Programs available Monday through Friday, June 19 through September 1, 2017
